To Feed or Not BE
UN Blue helmets coast around the massive destruction in Port of Prince to justify their presence where no rampant violence has ensued. In fact, the UN World Food Program did not commence food distribution until January 29th, the earthquake occurred on January 12, 2010. UNIFEM decided to change policy where only women collect the food rations. Ever see a starving woman and her child carry a 60 pound bag of food? I vote that the Blue Helments and military carry the bags for the hungry and the poor. It was as if the military wanted violence to erupt. The lack of response from the UN showed their capacity for violence. Now a major force causing further crisis to legitimize command and control over people's lives obtained through oppressive and outrageous irresponsibility by those in power. It has resulted in massive public hunger, deaths and gross environmental degradation but almost all of media paints a polite picture of the UN. The opulent lifestyles within the UN compound complete with cafe is directly across the tent city of hundreds of thousands of Haitians.
